Self care and well-being rituals

Incorporating easy and simple yet effective rituals into our daily lives moves us in substantial ways towards better health and well-being. The following rituals can be done morning, evening, and throughout the day.
*Drinking lemon water – One cup of room temperature water and half the juice of a lemon. It provides hydration and cleanses our system. Lemon water detoxifies the liver, has antibacterial properties and restores body’s pH balance (raises alkalinity and lowers acidity in the body). The Vitamin C in lemon works against infections like the cold and flu.
*Massaging the scalp – Ideally, use natural oil on fingertips to massage into the scalp. Massaging stimulates the hair follicles, assisting with hair growth and hair health. It also reduces stress, tension, and anxiety by improving blood circulation and reduces the pain of migraine headaches. Don’t forget to massage the neck and shoulders to reduce more muscle tension.
*Stretching the body – Hold stretches for at least 10 seconds (and don’t forget to breathe while stretching). Stretches wake up and warm the body up. They prevent stiffness and soreness and improve flexibility and blood flow to the muscles. Improving your joint range motion also reduces the risk of injury.
Sometimes, we feel guilty and overwhelmed thinking the day has passed without us having worked out or eaten healthy. But little things count too, and if we are easy on ourselves and remember that the most important self-care is being kind and gentle on ourselves, we can remember that there is always tomorrow, a whole new day to try again!
